Glasgow Velodrome Opening Date
The Glasgow velodrome opening date is currently on schedule for October 2012. The video below provides a walkthrough of the entire arena.
The opening of the Glasgow Velodrome is one of the most anticipated events in Scotlands sporting horizon. Unlike many other well know development projects throughout the UK, the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome has progressed in a timely manner and according to expected schedules. As yet we are not aware of a a specific ceromony to formally open the new Sir Chris Hoy Glasgow Velodrome, however this will be updated as and when we know more about the plans.
What is confirmed is that the top cyclists in the world will be making use of the arena for the first time between 16 – 18 November when it will play host to the Track World Cup Series – a qualifying event for the 2013 World Championship.
This cycling event is sure to be a great test of the Glasgow Velodrome’s credentials and will be fantastic opportunity to iron out any small problems that only become apparent when an arena such as this is fully operational.
Whilst the events over the next year and a half are going to cause a lot of excitment there is no doubt that for many people around the commonwealth, the ‘real’ opening date of the Glasgow Velodrome is going to be in the summer of 2014 when the eyes of the sporting world will be firmly focused on Scotland and Glasgow in particular.
